SONCAP certification: a necessary procedure to ensure product safety in the Nigerian market
SONCAP certification is a mandatory conformity assessment procedure implemented by the Federal Government of Nigeria. It is designed to check and control the entry of substandard and unsafe products into the Nigerian market to protect the rights and safety of consumers. SONCAP came into effect on 1 September 2005 and was officially implemented on 1 December 2005 after a 90-day grace period. SONCAP certification is a certificate required for customs clearance in Nigeria and is issued by the Nigerian Bureau of Standards (SON).
