The Federal Government of Nigeria has launched the Nigerian Standards Organisation Conformity Assessment Programme or SONCAP for short to address the volume of unsafe products entering the country and the subsequent risks to public health and safety. SON Conformity Assessment Program (SONCAP): The Nigerian Standards Organization (SON) designates pre-export verification of imported products for compliance with applicable Nigerian Industrial Standards (NIS), approved equivalent standards and national deviations.
Exporters/manufacturers who frequently ship to Nigeria are advised to apply for SONCAP certification if they have a quality system in place to ensure that the manufactured products are continuously produced with the same quality over a period of time. The SONCAP Certificate (SC) is a mandatory customs clearance document in Nigeria for import and export purposes.
